Camino 2025 🥾🇪🇸

Memorable trip last weekend with @frankiegassin and @darryljayparker to hike the epic Camino de Santiago trail 🚶‍♂️

Kicked off with food and beers in Santiago de Compostela then caught the bus over to Sarria to start off a 114km trek back to Santiago 👣

Route was undulating with a surface that is a mix of tarmac and gravel. There are plenty of places to eat along the way with Tokke bars, Tortilla and Pulpo the pick of the bunch 😋

All routes end in Santiago with the added bonus of a trip into the most epic cathedral ⛪️

🏰 GRANADA IN A DAY 🇪🇸

First full day of our trip to Andalusia was spent in the historical city of Granada 😎

We missed the boat getting tickets to visit the Alhambra and walked miles around the city instead, which was a great call as we got to capture some epic views of the site 🧐

Had an incredible eight-course lunch @restaurantearriaga and we were the only people in the restaurante for the entire meal 🥄

Headed to Mirador de San Nicolás to get one final view of the Alhambra then onto a Flamenco show 💃

Finished the day with another lovely dinner before heading back to Mojácar 🏖️

South Downs Way 50 2025 🌅

Various highlights from yesterday’s epic day out at the @centurionrunning SDW 50 miler

Started off very sunny and went out a bit too fast. Met @annasghinks and Hamish at Ditchling Beacon and was really struggling with the heat.

Got to the aid station at Housedean Farm, took five minutes in the shade, had some watermelon and sorted me out. Volunteers at those aid stations are absolute heroes 🤩

Started to feel good after getting to the Yellowbrick Road and was steady going most of the way in. Walked the big hills and ran on the flat.

Had some good support along the route from @arena80ac captain Sam B and then met my family at the track. Even had mum and Anna join me for the final lap.

Very happy to come in under nine hours and already thinking about the next one 😍 (Even if I did have to stop on the drive home in a bus stop due to nausea 🤢)

The Moyleman 2025 ☀️

Couple of weeks back I teamed up with @frankiegassin to take on @the_moyleman relay on a scorcher of a day.

The race started off in Lewes with Frankie leading us off and changing over with me at Southease after a rapid first half of 01:42:01.

My half started with an uphill into a brisk headwind for the first few miles before descending off the Downs through various farms and villages. It finishes off with one more epic climb, some undulations then a steep descent to the finish at Harveys in Lewes and a time of 1:44:01.

Both of us raced it hard and hit our pre-race goal of placing inside the top 10.

It’s top notch local race that is well organised and has a great community feel. They even reward you with a free pizza and beer at the end. Places are always in high demand so I’d recommend setting a reminder for when the ballot opens to make sure you get your place.

Steyning Stinger 2025 🐍

Last weekend I travelled over the downs to the village of Steyning to take part in Steyning Stinger with @frankiegassin and @darryljayparker

The weather was very kind to us and the sun was out almost from the start ☀️

The race is organised by @steyningathleticclub1951 and the route takes you on a large loop from Steyning over the downs and back. There are four big climbs, which are dubbed stings, and hats off to anyone who decided to run them.

We took on the marathon course and the stats give you an idea of the difficulty:
- 26.4 miles
- 2,995ft elevation

Ran this as a training run as part of the @centurionrunning SDW50 block, walked most of the hills and ended up crossing the line together with a time of 04:13:36, which I was happy with.

After the finish, the organisers had laid on a free breakfast and there were medals for everyone. All in all it’s a really well organised race and has a good community feel.

I’d recommend this event to anyone looking for a challenging marathon and if you don’t feel up to that there are also half marathon and 30km distances, too.

Lucky enough to incorporate plenty of racing too. Started off with a top 10 finish at the 4 Piers Marathon alongside @darryljayparker (@frankiegassin playing hype man for the final few miles) and finished with the brutal @englishcrosscountry champs at Parliament Hill with @arena80ac...and plenty more cross country thrown in the middle for good measure.

With one huge PB slayed already @brightonhalfmarathon with @frankiegassin, March is looking like a good one.

English Cross Country Nationals - Parliament Hill ⛰️

On Saturday, travelled up to London with my @arena80ac club mates to take part in the @englishcrosscountry National Championships.

I’d been warned it was going to be muddy but didn’t quite realise quite how bad it would be. Wore @inov_8 X-Talon and almost certainly would have been better off in spikes.

The course is around 7.7 miles and comprises one small loop and two large loops of Parliament Hill, which is in North London.

Felt ok off the start and for the first couple of miles. The mud eventually sapped the energy out of my legs and I ended up taking it easy for the majority of the rest of the race.

Good mental experience in the bank and a fun day out with the team. Three years to prep for the next one! #running #runningcommunity #runhappy #run #xc #crosscountry
